Even as the Somali pirates hijacked a Saudi Super Tanker and another Iranian ship off Somalian coast, the Indian Navy achieved a huge success by sinking a Somali pirate vessel in the Gulf of Aden. Indian Navy’s warship INS Tabar, sank a pirate vessel after a brief exchange of fire.
According to sources, the pirates challenged the Indian warship, presuming it as a merchant vessel. However, the alert naval personnel opened fire and sank the pirate vessel. This is the second successful operation conducted by Indian Navy in the Gulf of Aden, as it had repulsed another pirate attack on an Indian merchant ship a few days ago.

The funny bit is “the pirates challenged the Indian warship, presuming it as a merchant vessel.” .. Either Somali pirates are so dumb or the Indian warship looks like that .. I would go for the later as Somalis are not so dumb if they can capture such huge ships.
