Thiruvananthapuram, Wednesday, December 03, 2008: Refusing to bow down before all the pressure that has been mounting over him, Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan in his reply to the adjournment motion moved by the Opposition said, “I feel sorry that, people were misguided on this matter”.
He said that his comments were misinterpreted and that he was quoted out of context. He also categorically refused to apologise for his insult to slain Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s family. Chief Minister said, I was only reciprocating to the comments made by Major Unnikrishnan’s father, which the media and gave unwanted interpretations.
VS Achuthanandan also added that what ever happened at major Unnikrishnan’s residence were part of a pre-planned conspiracy.
He lashed out saying that instead of giving due importance to the Mumbai attacks, the media are giving more importance to this particular matter, blowing it out of proportion. Meanwhile, the opposition is asking the CM to issue an unconditional apology and has threatened to walk out if their demand is not met.
Achuthanandan had given a shocker of a reply to Unnikrishnan’s father’s outburst against him when he visited his house in Bangalore. The CM chose to say that not even a dog would have chosen to visit the house in any other context. “If it had not been (Major) Sandeep’s house, not even a dog would have glanced that way,” he had said.
On Nov 30, angry scenes were witnessed at slain NSG commando Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s residence in Bangalore when the family shut the doors on the Kerala chief minister who went to meet them to offer condolences.

Initially, is it a consitutional precedent that the head of state or head of nation should visit the home of our security men who dies on duty for the sake of the country. Hence I feel that such visits can only be construed as personal. The better logic would be that all Indians who lay down their lives for the security of the country should be considered as martyrs. In the present case the CM had phoned up the major’s home and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family. Later when irresponsible and trouble makers & nefarious elements hooked him up for not paying a visit to the major’s home, he rushed. And when he reached the home, he was told to get out, abused and humiliated in front of public glare and the media. Back home the reckless media confronted him on the issue and he retorted with a remark which was cunninngly twisted by the bourgeois press backed by the mafia barons and the defunct Congress and BJP. However the popular standing or rating of India’s most practical and wise CM will not go down either. Mr. V.S Achuthanandan is known for him simplicity, humbleness and down to earth personality. The bourgeois media, the TV channels have given a wrong impression to Keralites and Indians world wide on this issue. nevertheless, Mr. V.S has the backing of secular, progressive and the working class of Kerala. Under his rule all corrupt elements in the soceity – the bureaucrats , the religious outfits, land encroachers have been exposed and apprehended. There is a better law and order situation in the state when compared to all the other bigger states in India. Major Sandeep was a brave commando who was adventurous to defeat his enemies. The CM, his party the Communist Party of India ( Marxist ) pays rich tributes for his bravery. Hence all the critics and detractors of the CM or his party can stop barking like stray dogs

Mr. V.S Achuthanandan was in delhi when terrorist attack was happened…We should understand that he is 85 years old human being, still this energetic and anti corruption CM went to bangalore. And what he received??
Whole thing got misinterpreted by the media…these english dailies and media couldn’t even understood what CM said…instead they simply hooked on the word, dog ..
Keralites or malayalees can understand what CM said…
Even sandeeps father is a keralite….we can understand his feelings, but a CM of a state was reached to his house to give condolences..he could’ve not created those ugly scenes to an elder man like VS achuthandan infront of camera..
