Congress decide to misuse tax payee money
HYDERABAD: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao said every town and a major village in the state will have a statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. “Since the year is being observed as Rajiv Sadbhavana year,” he said, “the unveiling of the statues would go on throughout the year. The action plan for the unveiling of these statues will be announced in a week’s time”.
After participating in the Rajiv Sadbhavana program along with chief minister K Rosaiah, he said the state was progressing because the governments here were honestly pursuing the policies of Rajiv Gandhi. “Empowering the local bodies, reservations in local bodies, software and hardware policies, girl child education, etc. are some of the landmark legislations Rajiv introduced when he was the Prime Minister. So, to imbibe the spirit of Rajiv Gandhi among the weaker sections and the youth, the statue-unveiling program is being launched,” Rao said.
The state is already witnessing a flood of statues of YS Rajasekhara Reddy and NT Ramarao. While Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy is unveiling YSR statues in hundreds of villages as part of his Odarpu yatra, NTR son Harikrishna and others are erecting the statues of the founder of Telugu Desam Party at important junctions in the state.
According to TDP sources, the program is expected to gain momentum in the next couple of months. TDP is planning the program to counter the installation of YSR statues throughout the state.
