Shri Shri Thakur’s explanation of Gayatri mantra

Shri Shri Thakur : Gayatri mantra begins with Aum. Aum is known as “Pranav”. Why? It is because Pranav has come from Pra+Nu dhatu(root) which means the best (prakrishta) way to hymn. Then comes Bhuur-Bhuvah Svah. Bhuu means that which has happened, Bhuvah means that which is happening and Svah means that which shineth. His, i.e., that life-source’s adjusted knowledge of the universe, which radiates in everything with effulgent radiation, let that effulging life-current or upholding intelligence be sent to us. We meditate Him.
