‘Hum Pakistani Hain, Pakistan Hamara Hai’ (We are Pakistanis and Pakistan belongs to us). Finally, Kashmiri separatism has spoken the truth. These words were spoken by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, who is characterised by the Indian media as chairman of the hardline faction of the Hurriyat Conference. I could never understand what this ‘hardline’ tag means. Which is the ’softline’ faction of the Hurriyat Conference? The Indian media tags the Hurriyat faction led by Maulvi Umar Farooq as the softline faction. One wonders how these two are different and what makes one the ‘hardliner‘ and other the ‘softliner‘. Both of them were present on the same dais at the same rally at the Tourist Reception Centre grounds in Srinagar on August 18, 2008. Both were raising anti-India slogans at that rally. Both were demanding secession from the Union of India. Both were involved in the strikes and drama that finally resulted in the revocation of the J&K state cabinet’s order to allot land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board for building temporary structures for the protection of Shri Amarnath pilgrims. Moreover, both enjoy patronage from politicians as well as terrorists from across the border in Pakistan. Both represent the philosophy of intolerance for faiths other than Islam in the Kashmir Valley. Both were silent when Kashmir’s original inhabitants, the minority Hindus, were ethnically cleansed from the Valley. Both condoned the following slogans raised in that rally on August 18: Jeevay Jeevay Pakistan [Long Live Pakistan] Pakistan se rishta kya, La-illaha Ill-lallaha [What is the relationship with Pakistan, faith of Islam] Yehan kya chalega, Nizaam-e-Mustafa [What will rule here, Sharia-law] Meri mandi teri mandi, Ralwanpindi Rawalpindi [My market your market, Rawalpindi Rawalpindi] Fruits to bahana hai, Rawalpindi jana hai [Fruits are just the excuse, real intent is to go to Rawalpindi] Bharat ka jo yaar hai, gadaar hai gadaar hai [Whosoever is India’s friend, is a traitor, is a traitor] Bharat teri shamat aayi, Lashkar aayi Lashkar aayi [India, you are on notice; Lashkar-e-Tayiba has arrived, Lashkar-e-Tayiba has arrived] In an interview, former J&K governor S K Sinha described the Hurriyat in the following words: ‘There are supposed to be two groups in the Hurriyat; the so-called moderates and the so-called extremists. In effect they are all communal and anti-national. They have nothing against foreign tourists coming to the valley but they are allergic to Hindu Indians visiting the valley.’ In a recent interview, Geelani explained his desire to enforce Islamic rule in Kashmir and said, ‘I have a three-point target. First is to impose an Islamic nizam (jurisprudence) in Kashmir. Islam should govern our lives, be it in our political thought, socio-economic plans, culture or the ongoing movement. The creed of socialism and secularism should not touch our lives and we must be totally governed by the Quran and the Sunnat (precedents from Prophet Mohammed’s life).’ It is ironical that on one hand the Hurriyat people are ‘allergic to Hindu Indians visiting the valley’ and on the other hand they have no qualms about using benefits provided by India. Both these separatists enjoy the security provided by the Indian government and paid for by the Indian taxpayer. Syed Ali Shah Geelani, a former J&K legislator, even receives pension funded by Indian taxpayers. These Kashmiri leaders have no shame in getting benefits paid by Indian taxpayers while they continue to dance on the tunes of their masters from across the border in Pakistan. But all aside, I am relieved that Syed Ali Shah Geelani has finally admitted that he, along with hundreds of thousands of his followers, is Pakistani. So that begs the questions: What are Geelani and his followers doing in India? Why should Indian taxpayers pay for their pension and security? It is about time Geelani and his followers bought a one-way ticket to Muzaffarabad and board the Caravan-e-Aman bus and leave India for good. If they are Pakistanis and Pakistan is theirs, they have no business to stay here in India. Sixty years ago, Indians sacrificed a lot and gave away a large piece of their body and soul to make a new country Pakistan. Millions at that time made their choice and moved to Pakistan. Those who stayed back also made a conscious decision to stay back. And most of them are content and happy. But those who are still in India and for some reason are not happy, should stop whining and go to Pakistan — the country that was created solely for them. India and Indians will not accept another partition, whatsoever. I am sure that Indian taxpayers will not even mind paying one last expense, the one-way ticket to Pakistan, for Geelani and his followers. This would be the best investment Indians can make. The Indian government lost a great opportunity on August 11 this year when Geelani and others were marching towards Muzaffarabad under their ‘Muzaffarabad Chalo’ campaign. The Indian government should have facilitated their trip to Muzaffarabad and then sealed the border. In case Geelani and his followers do not go to Pakistan, then they ought to be tried for sedition. The Sedition Act, embodied under the Indian Penal Code Section 124A, reads as follows: ‘Whoever by words, either spoken or written, or by signs, or by visible representation, or otherwise, brings or attempts to bring into hatred or contempt, or excites or attempts to excite disaffection towards, the government established by law in India, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, to which fine may be added, or with imprisonment which may extend to three years, to which fine may be added…’ It is not surprising that the Government of India is not enforcing the Sedition Act and bringing charges against Geelani and other separatist leaders from the Kashmir Valley. It is a continuation of the UPA government’s appeasement policies towards Kashmiri Muslims. Otherwise, why would it not counter the lies about the so-called ‘economic blockade’? Anybody who knows the geography of Jammu and Kashmir would know that any strike and bandh in Jammu region would affect the only national highway connecting Kashmir with the rest of India. Granted that the first few days of the strikes in Jammu affected the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, but there was no declared economic blockade. Within a couple of days of strikes in Jammu, the Indian Army was ordered to take over the entire national highway and they ensured that every truck reached Srinagar and every truck that was supposed to leave Srinagar left Srinagar and reached its intended destination. There are statistics that show that there was absolutely no economic blockade. The fact of the matter is that it is the Jammu region that is facing hardships due to continuous strikes and bandhs in that region. It is the people of Jammu region who were running out of essential commodities. But who cares? As long as essential supplies reached the Valley, that is all that mattered. It is sad and unfortunate that a few leading opinion-makers from the media are now falling prey to Kashmiri separatists’ tactics and agenda. In recent days, we have seen these opinion-makers suggest a referendum in Kashmir. Their argument that if Kashmir secedes from India, all is going to be well in the rest of India, is preposterous and shows a lack of knowledge about the Kashmir issue and Kashmiri radical Muslims. These radicals will not stop at Kashmir because Kashmir is not the end-game. Instead it is the start of their bigger plan of Talibanisation of the rest of India. Today you give away Kashmir, tomorrow you will have to give away Hyderabad and then Coimbatore and then Moradabad and so on. We Indians need to be on guard and defeat the enemies within our borders — the enemies are more dangerous than the ones outside. |

Asking Hindus to take a “tough stand” against “Islamic terrorism”, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Thursday attacked Congress president Sonia Gandhi for trying to delink religion and terrorism saying it was a “sign of hypocrisy”. “Islamic terrorism is creating havoc in Maharashtra and India and Hindus should come forward and take a tough stand,” Thackeray was quoted in Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamna’, of which he is the editor. He alleged that Congress and Samajwadi Party were “enemies of the country” as they were “showing sympathy” to the suspects arrested in the recent serial blasts. Thackeray said Sonia’s appeal to delink terrorism from community or religion at a public rally at Nanded on October 7 was a “joke”. “On one hand, you make efforts to save terrorist Afzal Guru from the gallows, shower Muslims with concessions and on the other, speak about tackling terrorism,” he said. “This hypocrisy is taking the country towards destruction,” the 81-year-old Sena chief said. Meanwhile, in an editorial in the newspaper, Thackeray said “no one will dare heap injustice on Marathi people and Hindus as long as the Sena is there”. Thackeray also criticised Samajwadi Party leaders Mulayam Singh and Amar Singh for “rushing to defend Muslim terrorists”. |

I am not even going to the origin of this evil Caste System in detail, but one should at least be honest enough to know and accept as decent human beings that the white Aryans from Central Asia, nomadic and barbaric thugs, invaded India (The glorious Indus Valley Civilization) which had been inhabited by the dark-skinned people who migrated from Ethiopia long, long time ago. However, after the victory of the barbarous white aryans over the peace-loving dark-skinned people of India (our glorious ancestors), the barbarous white aryans devised an evil system to keep their white folks away from the native dark and the subjugated masses. This is how the evil VARNA (CASTE) System came to be part of the living hell of India, and thereafter India also tragically became Caste India. To substantiate and permanently sustain this diabolical Caste System, the white aryans invented millions of gods and goddesses, most cruel karma theory, tons of superstitions, dogmas, fear-instilled blind faiths, all in the name of barbarous “brahminism”.
Later on, the obnoxious brahminism was and still is referred to as “hinduism” (the name given by the invading ignorant Muslims), but really and truly it is actually “Satanic Cult”, thus made the evil Caste System a divinely ordained evil system, and every other ‘cock and bull’ stories to make the subjugated and the original populations of India to believe (nay, brain washed by all the evil forces) and made them to follow those evil stories and to be the willing slaves of the vicious white aryans. This is the reason the evil Caste System is in fact referred to as “Sanctified Racism”. The white aryans also, in the meantime, invented numerous castes and thousands of sub-castes and the evil and unique practice of untouchability with all kinds of filthy ‘purity and pollution’ standards BY BIRTH (if anyone says that the evil Caste System is only designed for people to perform various jobs as per their abilities functional divisions, they cunningly call it -, then the world should ask a simple question to the barbarous hindus: if so, why the unfortunate people in Caste India are stratified and compartmentalized AT BIRTH and BY BIRTH into different graded inequality of thousands of evil castes and sub-castes, the most obnoxious and barbarous system of untouchability and a section of the indigenous people as Untouchables and Outcastes – out side the evil Caste System – the non-caste people and therefore non-hindus! – Can anyone know what a child can do or what its intellectual level is when that child is still in its infancy? But still the barbarous hindu Satanic Cult puts a stamp of an evil caste on that innocent child AT BIRTH itself). The Untouchables are so impure and that a hindu should not touch them and if he/she does, they will get ritually polluted. (Unless it is sexual – an absolute humiliation and open exhibition of total domination and authority over the masses, then there is no Untouchability!). The Untouchables were and still are permanently chained down with supposedly full approval of all the evil hindu gods and goddesses, and with absolutely no hope of this chain of evil slavery ever be broken as long as the hindu Satanic Cult is practiced, dignified and glorified in Caste India. This is the dirty history and also today’s reality of the evil Caste System of the hindu Satanic Cult.
This evil, most cruel Caste System of the barbarous hindu Satanic Cult is the longest existing evil racism in the history of mankind (over 3,500 years), and no one and no one at all in the world would say a word against this evil Caste System, including those famous human beings, Hon. Nelson Mandela of South Africa and late Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., of USA who fought against the other racist systems of the world. No attention outside Caste India about this evil Caste System is ever paid because the world is not allowed to hear the cries and screams of 300 plus million Dalits inside and outside the boundaries of Caste India, and the outside world is absolutely blind and refuses to think and analyze the existing facts in Caste India.
The author wrote two letters to the then President of United States, Mr. Bill Clinton, to raise the Dalits and the evil Caste issues in Caste India when he went to that country for a visit last year. What Bill Clinton actually did in Caste India is a sad reflection of what most every foreigner inside and outside Caste India does. Bill Clinton went to Caste India, wined, dinned and everything else, danced and came back to the United States like a mouthless, brainless and heartless individual without any honest and moral courage. Bill Clinton uttered not a word about the 300 plus million suffering Dalits, the evil Caste System or any of the gory human right violations in the most violent country in the world, Caste India. If Bill Clinton could act in such cowardice manner, one can easily imagine what other foreigners would do in Caste India! When anyone from anywhere in the world goes to Caste India, a caste-ridden hindu will meet this person, wine him/her, dine him/her, show them the beautiful Taj Mahal and other Muslim historical buildings and take them through other carefully orchestrated tour routes, and provide every other comforts, no matter what those might be, to the outsiders. Then, the foreign visitors quietly leave the venomous Caste India without ever asking any questions or making any observations of the evil Caste reality, but saying only all the nice things that their hosts, the evil caste hindus, want them to say, like brainless dummies. What a tragedy! The barbarous hindus would care less for the cries of the 300 plus million Dalits because their hindu Satanic Cult has completely brainwashed them to ignore or even enjoy the cries of Dalits because the life of a Dalit is far cheaper and meaningless than any animal in Caste India. In addition, the unfortunate Untouchables or Outcastes (DALITS – Broken, Crushed, Oppressed, Subjugated people; also it means ‘Rooted in the Soil’, meaning original or indigenous people) were and still are oppressed, suppressed, segregated, brutalized, persecuted, marginalized, burn them alive, force them to eat human waste and drink human urine, women folks paraded naked in public places, rape them in every way including gang rapes and butcher the Dalits at will and ease; forced the Dalits to perform all the degrading and demeaning tasks and heap every insult upon the Dalits, pure mental slavery, with no remorse and impunity whatsoever, but with every iron-fisted force of enslavement to make them completely loose all hopes of being human beings – the sadistic hindus perpetrating the sadistic inhuman atrocities on the hopeless and helpless Dalits; however, the barbarous hindus faithfully follow the orders of the teachings of the sadistic hindu Satanic Cult to make the lives of the Dalits hopeless, helpless and despair and immersed in a spiral life of every violence and agony. The 300 plus million Dalits have essentially turned out to be permanent, obedient, free and willing slaves of the barbarous hindus, enslavement of not only the body but much more dangerous and permanent mind or mental slavery; all because of the obnoxious teachings of the hindu Satanic Cult, and if the Dalits don’t obey the orders of the obnoxious hindus, the Dalits will be barbarically dealt with and finally see to it that they are butchered ‘like rabbits’ with every indignation known to man. The barbarous hindus brutalized and criminalized the Indian society as a whole through treachery and deceit. The barbarous hindus are also the looters, robbers, usurpers and the true gravediggers and grave robbers. The barbarous hindus also keep telling the world as well as the ignorant and illiterate Dalits that the Dalits are brainless, dull and have no intelligence, no merit what so ever and cannot function in any work of substance, and thus rob them of everything including their basic thinking power.
The Dalits are not allowed to read and write, as they are denied basic education with absolute pathetic living environment in segregated slums, no proper schools, abject poverty and every other disadvantage that make a person live like an animal. They cannot even go near the barbarous hindu gods’ temples, cannot carry arms, own property and the barbarous hindus enforced every conceivable restrictions on the Dalits (brutal penalty if they do not obey any of the evil caste rules) to be permanently ignorant and obedient and dumb slaves. Brutally massacring the Dalits is a pass time for the caste-infested hindus in Caste India, because no one will ever question these atrocities, no matter what the laws and rules have been written on paper in Caste India. Volumes have to be written to list all these brutal atrocities of heart rending persecutions committed on the poor, ignorant and innocent 300 plus million Dalits by the barbarous caste-ridden hindus in Caste India alone (Please see, for example, a book “Broken People – Caste Violence Against India’s Untouchables” by the Human Rights Watch, New York, USA, March 1999, on Dalit atrocities in Caste India). The caste-ridden hindus continue to perpetuate these evil and vicious inhuman crimes on Dalits with stony and hardened hearts and at free will even today because the caste hindu government of Caste India continues to protect these criminals, and the international community too behave like the three monkeys – Will Not See, Will Not Hear, and Will Not Speak, and keep adding fuel to the already violently burning flame. The barbarous caste-ridden Indian government might say that the Caste System may be an internal matter and purely a domestic problem, but if the 300 million Dalits would explode, the whole world will have to answer as the international community is as guilty or more guilty than those perpetrators of the vicious crimes on humanity in Caste India. The evil Caste System is more dangerous, barbarous, tyrannical, evil, and cruel than any other forms of racism – slavery and apartheid – the barbarous hindus have created an unpropitious and evil social system with frightening and fiery outcome because of its cunning and crafty manipulations and disguises, the most inhuman tragedy of any magnitude the world has ever seen. There could be slight modifications here in this explanation, but no one can deny the basic facts in these statements with honesty and human decency.
Can anyone in the world, including the barbarous hindus, say that a similar vicious system exists anywhere in the world? No, no parallel in the entire world! Caste India is the graveyard of every human right violations anyone can think of. The evil Caste System exists wherever the barbarous hindus live, whether it is in Caste India or anywhere else on this planet, as the barbarous hindus always carry their cruel and poisonous Caste System with them, as they are sick and they have only sick and cruel mind, conditioned by the barbarous hindu Satanic Cult. Look at the matrimonial columns in any newspapers wherever the barbarous hindus live, not only in Caste India but also in the US, where the barbarous hindus find matches for their children for marriage – any newspaper in any city; ‘India Abroad’ in New York City, ‘India Tribune’ in Chicago and ‘India West’ in San Francisco, for example where they specifically and strictly ask for their own Castes and sub-castes basis. So, how can the so-called hindu intellectuals and the social scientists deny the simple fact that the evil Caste System is at least as worst as racism, to put it in a simplistic way? Because, they are one hundred percent intellectually dishonest and that is the reason that they can lie through their noses and hide the bare facts about the evil Caste System.
The barbarous hindus have also been cheating the gullible and willingly ignorant people of the world to look at the other side and ignore when human right violations of the worst kind are occurring routinely and as a matter of fact in Caste India every day. It is also cheating the international community proclaiming that the Caste India is the ‘largest working democracy’ in the world, and the world seems to shamefully believe this blatant lie without ever asking a simple question as to what kind of democracy can survive in a country where 300 plus million Dalits are oppressed, segregated and exploited for the last 3,500 years and this still happily continues without any shred of shame. Should not the Dalits put the entire blame for their suffering on the international community for being reckless in not knowing as well as not wanting to know the facts about the evil Caste System of the hindu Satanic Cult and Caste India, the original home of racism in the world? What a shame! Only a person who does not understand or does not want to understand the true meaning of the word ‘democracy’ can say that the Caste India is a democracy. It is in fact a hollow and more so a fake democracy! Just because a country has political elections (that too, one needs to really study how many people are killed, not allowed to vote, purchase votes for few bucks or even one-time meal or absolute intimidation to vote for someone or be killed, or their women folks dishonored in every which way, their huts burnt, ballot boxes destroyed, the polling booths looted, polling officers hurt and killed all with full support of the ‘criminals in uniform’ Caste Indian police, in order to prevent the innocent and helpless masses from exercising even this basic right in a supposedly democratic country!) that does not mean that this country has democracy. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar has said long time ago that a country cannot have political democracy unless that country has absolute social democracy. Caste India does not even know what social democracy is all about because it has the most vicious and venomous Caste System, which is diagonally opposite to what social democracy, is all about. So how can democracy ever survive in a country, which is immersed in the evil hindu Caste System with ingrained social discrimination, oppression, exploitation and every other gory atrocity?
Instead of going through the definitions and descriptions of the words, caste and race, and their deeds, which could very well be termed as an academic exercise, let us see the implications and how racism and the evil Caste System were and are practiced in the world. Let us first take Racism – Slavery and Apartheid – are two examples of how the other forms of racism have been practiced in the world. Both were evil systems, and there is absolutely no doubt about this fact! But, let us go into the details of these two evil systems and then compare this racism with the most evil mother of all racisms, the poisonous Caste System: It is also a fact that these two evil Racisms are in general no more in practice in the world, except in small pockets of areas in the world where still few bigoted people (always) live! Now, let us ask a simple question: How were these racisms practiced, and how and why they disappeared from the face of this planet?
Racism is purely, simply and primarily an economically based system; extracting free labor from the slaves, using every available cruel torture mechanisms to achieve this goal, merely a physical system and not a direct mental system. This is the reason why the slaves were allowed into their masters’ homes to cook, to rear their children, to help with every house-hold chores of the masters including helping the daily needs of their (white) women, and in many instances the slave women were forced into pleasing the sexual desires of the male masters. Instances where the Black men were forced to please sexual pleasures of the white master women too are in record. In essence, the slaves had free access to every nook and corner of the slave masters’ houses and they can touch each other, sit next to each other, etc. The slaves were told that they were slaves because of their skin color and nothing else. No ‘untouchability’ was ever part of these evil racisms. Apparently, no god and no religion (would not be a religion, if so!) played any part in these evil racisms. I am not anyway implying here that these racisms are better and tolerable systems. First of all, this evil system was supposed to have created by some imaginary gods and goddesses, the so-called ‘karma’ theory where the entire blame for being the slaves – Untouchables and Outcastes, Dalits – were and are still squarely put on the victims for their sufferings. Even though they are Untouchables, their women folks will become Touchables when it comes to quenching the sexual pleasures of these wild hindu beasts. In the posting I just made, I was responding to Mr Bhumihar. It does not purport to be comments, as such, on the your original posting (Mr Praful Kumar as the blogger). I had first read thru your news and interpretation, and only after that, the comments of Mr Bhumihar. While responding, I slipped into comments on comments, forgetting even the original blog perhaps because what Mr Bhumihar wrote was something of not much direct connection to the former.
Well, regarding your currentl posted blog, I wish to say that you are as spirited as genuine. Although globalization is, and is bound to be, shrinking the world, and going to impact nationalist concepts, institutions and practices, no culture can be swept off its native moorings, plumping for an indigestible global culture which in practice does not exist except for the fact that there is undoubtedly HUMANITY that binds all mankind as the common thread – our feelings, our egos, our emotions, our reactions to events and circumstances and constraints, are all alike, universally. As high end astrophysical research and development makes quantum jumps at exponential rates of growth, our world view will grow stronger while nations will need to debate issues affecting the earth as a whole, on a common plank and contribute to progress by pooling national resources. And, this is not merely reaching for the moon, or the farthest planets or even stars hanging in outer space. There will always be untapped reservoirs of energy and other resources right on earth, for which cooperation in science and technology development will be absolutely necessary between national entitites.
That said, it is necessary to take care of our national culture. India was partitioned essentially due to a fanatic Jinnah with his fiery personal ambitions for self-glorification in a separate Pakistan, using even propaganda holocaust between Muslims and Hindus of the then United Greater India.

These divisions are also subject to manipulative advantages by Christian missionaries wherever they have already made deep incursions, in the whole of the West (where Christians are mostly only nominal, and by honouring it by breach in practice). In Asia, the Pope has thrown a mandate before them to “plant the Cross” in Asia.
Thus India’s problems are really now two-fold. Since immemorial times, religion was fused harmoniously with social ethos, science and rationalism (where it is meaningful) and political administration. Now, “secularists” , both self-seeking politicians and scholars who have been trapped by Western scholarship holding West as world’s most civilized part of earth. Yes, a hemisphere :superior” because of its widespread gun culture, high crime with homicides, bloodthirst, wars and holocausts and genocides under different guises such as protection of democracy, dethroning of dictatorships, fighting communism, and so on.)
Hinduism’s wisdom of tolerance and inclusiveness have tended to be greatly damaged by pseudo schoalrs and pseudo secularists, to the advantage of the missionaries and the fundamentalists of Islam. The former propagate that Hinduism is no religion, its gods are demons which create disharmony between man and man, etc. Islamist fundamentalists and extremists constitute perhaps a tiny fraction of the total Muslim population of 15 crore (150 millio) and they do not accept even democracy and cannot tolerate any other religion, which it brands as the way of the Infidels, when it comes to the crux of issues.
The Kashmir problem has been mishandled, for various reasons rightly understood by the BJP – mainly by according a special status and refusing practically to win back the Azad Kashmir which had been grabbed by Pakistan at the time of Partition using thugs of the worst kind. IT IS ONLY DUE TO THIS MISHANDLING OF THE KASHMIR THAT WE TODAY FIND THE HORRENDOUS RISING CRESCENDO OF SEPARATIST SLOGANS AND CRIES.
We must clarify to our Kashmir Muslim brethren – as well as those elsewhere in India – that Hinduim is not against Islam and Muslims, as it has never been against them all along. Our culture does not distinguish between religions, although Hinduism fuses religion with culture, society, economy, and a sensibly limited role for science, as already mentioned. We are all of the same racial stock. (The Christian missionaries are driving an artificial wedge between two unreal races – Dravidian and Aryan – again this is one of their foul elements of their foul stragegy to christianize India using the fantastic moneypower of the world missionary empire.
Unless we Indians, regardless of our religious label, steer clear of missionary designs and fanatic Islamist mischiefs righrt on our soil, all of us will fall.

Your analysis is interesting for the details it provides of Mr Murdoch’s style and kind of relationships with the Chinese leaders, and your opinion of the equation between the media and the US govt. and foreign political parties influenced. Your opinions are naturally based on unauthentic or hearsay “analyses” of international politics. At best these “analyses” are controversial and, at worst, they are sponsored by partisan or short-range interests to disable definite public views on the various involved issues being formed, sometimes even by misleading them, or just due to incompetence of the analysts. I am not saying that the bare news that you are using are all worthless, indeed some of them are true. Interpretation can be inspired by sponsoring partisan interests.

Addressing a public rally on Sunday October 7, Mrs Sonia Gandhi described opponents of the Indo-US Nuclear deal as enemies of India’s development. It would be instructive to identify the forces opposed to the deal.
China and US big business have a cozy relationship. For the last three decades China has acted as a giant manufacturing factory, providing also cheap labor working in slave conditions, to enable US multinationals vastly increase their profit margins. Consequently, US big business happily diverted investment from domestic markets to China causing loss of jobs to American workers. Meanwhile big business leaned on US governments to allow a five to one trade surplus to China. A huge chunk of Chinese exports to America are low-tech goods manufactured largely in firms owned by China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA). At one time the PLA owned an estimated 15000 commercial firms.
Over the years this resulted in hugely augmenting PLA funds for expanding and modernizing China’s army. And it led to China owning over a trillion dollars worth of US treasury securities. This relationship has joined China and America at the hip. China’s system runs on exports for which US cooperation is crucial. America’s system runs on overdraft for which China’s lending is crucial. China’s links with US big business allow it to exercise powerful influence over all democratic governments with which it deals.
Recently Australian Prime Minister John Howard admitted as much while allaying China’s concerns over the emerging US-Japan-Australia-India axis. This lobby comprising US business and China overlooks global security while it pursues profit.
Now consider, in this general context, the Indo-US Nuclear deal. Initially, China discouraged the deal to block India. Recently, it has softened its stand. Does that indicate change of policy? No. As a member of the big powers club, China wanted to conform to the views of the other members to appear respectable.
After other big powers backed the deal, China got aboard to retain respectability. Now it seeks to block the deal through its admirers among Indian politicians, and through influencing its corporate allies in the US. Mainstream American media is the voice of the corporate lobby. That is why US mainstream media serves China’s interests as faithfully as it does the interests of US big business. A fine example of this symbiotic relationship in US media is provided by the world’s most powerful media baron, Rupert Murdoch.
On June 26th New York Times writer Joseph Kahn reported from Beijing: “Mr. Murdoch has flattered Communist Party leaders and done business with their children. . . . Mr. Murdoch’s third wife, Wendi, is a mainland Chinese. . . . Mr. Murdoch cooperates closely with China’s censors and state broadcasters . . . . He cultivates political ties . . . often supports the policies of Chinese leaders and attacks their critics. His courtship has made him the Chinese leadership’s favorite foreign media baron. He has dined with former President Jiang Zemin and repeatedly met other members of the ruling Politburo in Beijing, New York and London . . . . Murdoch’s book unit published a biography of Mr. Deng written by his daughter, Deng Rong . . . . He also cultivated ties with Mr. Deng’s eldest son, Deng Pufang . . . . Xinhua said: ‘President Jiang expressed appreciation for the efforts made by world media mogul Rupert Murdoch in presenting China objectively and cooperating with the Chinese press over the last two years’. . . . Retired prime minister, Mr. Zhu (Rongchi) invited Mr. Murdoch to become Chinese.”
Apart from owning Fox News, which was considered the most pro-US government TV channel during the Iraq war, Murdoch owns Star TV channels in India and is expected to buy the most powerful US financial paper, The Wall Street Journal. But Murdoch is not the only voice in US mainline media. The New York Times is another powerful voice for America’s East Coast Establishment. What does it say?
In an editorial on October 6th NYT wrote: “Congress was far too uncritical when it gave preliminary approval to the agreement in December . . . . All nuclear trade with India has been banned since it refused to sign the nuclear Non- Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and tested nuclear weapons . . . . The agreement could benefit New Delhi’s weapons program as much as its pursuit of nuclear power, while making it even harder to rein in the ambitions of nuclear wannabes, including Iran.”
The newspaper’s concern over nuclear proliferation is touching. It is also inexplicably selective. India, which transparently refrained from signing the NPT and was belatedly compelled to become a nuclear weapons state due to the growing China-Pakistan threat, is considered encouragement to nuclear proliferation. But China which is the fountainhead of global nuclear proliferation – made clear in a number of articles exposing this, written by David Sanger and William J Broad published in the NYT itself – attracts not a whisper of protest from the paper’s editorial writers. So much for objectivity!
And if US media opposes the nuclear deal, can Israel be far behind? Israel approached the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group (NSG) seeking a “criteria-based approach” to opening nuclear commerce with non-NPT states. Reportedly, Indian government sources viewed this as Israel indirectly supporting China’s and Pakistan’s efforts to make the NSG stall India’s deal. The Washington Post confirmed that this Israeli move could seriously complicate US efforts to win exemption for India from the NSG.
This unspoken alliance between the so-called Left and so-called Right should explain the odd reactions that the Indo-US Nuclear Deal has aroused within India. Leftist politicians like Prakash Karat and Bardhan fiercely oppose the deal because it would draw India close to the US. Rightist politicians like Arun Shourie and Yashwant Sinha oppose it because the deal would impinge on India’s sovereignty. The New York Times is worried about nuclear proliferation and about Iran getting the bomb. The CPI-M is worried about the deal crippling India’s foreign policy and preventing Iran getting the bomb. Pro-Muslim journalists are dead set against the deal because it involves Bush who attacked Iraq. Pro-Israel Indian security analysts oppose the deal because it will destroy India’s N-weapons programme.
You name it, you’ve got it: there are worries expressed about nuclear proliferation, about India’s losing its sovereignty, about India getting sucked into America’s wicked global plans, about India abetting anti-Islamic war-mongering through collusion with President Bush, about destroying India’s future nuclear weapons programme, about blocking Iran’s nuclear programme, about encouraging Iran’s nuclear programme – the concerns wide and varied. The demand remains the same. The most influential section of US media, US big business, China, Israel, pro-Islamists, CPI-M, BJP – they are all on the same side. With one voice they chant the same refrain: “Kill the Indo-US Nuclear deal!”
They add up to a formidable group and a powerful voice. Should it be called Leftist? Rightist? Or does money make the world spin? If so, it clearly operates at a level far above the heads of our own pathetic Leftists and Rightists who seem not even to know whose interests they serve.
Indians should ignore these disparate arguments from questionable sources betraying dubious links, and focus on a single fact: if a non-NPT nation like India signs the deal it will achieve a unique distinction. It will be recognized as a nuclear power. That would enhance significantly its global role.
